A family's table in the mountains

Our Story

The story of Savoie begins with the Sullivans, a family with deep roots in the High Sierra. Maureen and Craig Sullivan spent summers on the lake and winters on the slopes, children and grandchildren in tow. Over the years, the family logged countless evenings at the Pfeifer House, a historic chalet known for its fondue and easy hospitality.

When a "For Sale" sign appeared, Maureen couldn't let the place go. She saw a chance to bring it back to life and enlisted Craig's son, Mark, and his wife, Alison—chefs with Michelin-starred pedigrees.

The building's mountain setting and alpine interiors shaped the project from the start. They named it Savoie, after the Alpine region Mark and Alison had long admired. The couple moved to Tahoe full-time and, with the extended family behind them, began a careful restoration.

Savoie is the result: a permanent foothold for the Sullivans, and the realization of a longtime dream for Mark and Alison.
